
When I was younger, I used to wonder how people like Nolan Ryan or Ken Griffey, Sr. could one day just up and stop playing baseball and retire. It never occurred to me that there might be a moment when something in their body or inside of their head shut off and caused them to slam on the brakes for good.
I hate feeling like I’ve been given that warning.
It’s either that or the three or four hours I spent writing alone in a bedroom combined with a viewing of Richard Kelly’s completely surreal Southland Tales really did a number on my head tonight…
